BDT Stage 1 ECU Tune

2015–2021 Audi TTS (8S • EA888 Gen 3 • IS38 • Quattro)

The 8S TTS already punches above its weight — but the factory file keeps the IS38 on a short leash. BDT Stage 1 delivers a sharper throttle, a much harder mid-range, a stronger mid-range hit, and clean power that carries to redline — while keeping the car reliable and easy to live with every day.

How Remote Tuning Works — Flash From Home in Minutes

No shop. No tow truck. No downtime. Your entire ECU calibration is completed from your driveway — BDT logs into your laptop remotely and handles every button press.

What You'll Need

  • Windows laptop — macOS / Apple not supported
  • 50+ Mbps internet connection (stable, no hotspot)
  • 8GB RAM minimum
  • BDT remote tuning cable (included with purchase)
  • Battery charger — 10–25 amp, connected during the entire flash
  • TeamViewer Quick Support — free, BDT walks you through it

Step-by-Step

1

Schedule: Scan the QR code included with your cable to book your session on BDT's scheduling page.

2

Download TeamViewer Quick Support: Google "TeamViewer" → click Quick Support → download and install. This gives BDT secure remote access to your laptop — no IT experience needed.

3

Connect battery charger: Hook up positive terminal first, negative last. Set to 10–25 amps and leave it connected the entire session.

4

Key on, engine off (accessory mode): Press the start button with no foot on the brake. All dash lights on — engine does not start.

5

Plug in the cable: Connect the BDT tuning cable to your OBDII port (lower dash, driver's side) and the USB end into your laptop.

6

Share your TeamViewer ID & password: BDT logs into your laptop remotely, selects your exact calibration file, and loads it to the car — you watch it happen in real time.

7

Key off on command: BDT tells you exactly when. The car resets all modules — temporary fault codes are completely normal and will clear on their own.

8

Disconnect & drive: Remove charger (negative first, then positive), start the car, and go.

The whole flash takes about 15–20 minutes. BDT is live on call with you the entire time. You never click a button you're unsure about.

WATCH: HOW REMOTE TUNING WORKS

After the flash: Your car may show fault codes across multiple modules — this is 100% normal. When one module is flashed it tells every other module to reset. They clear on their own after a short drive cycle.

Can't make your scheduled time? Reschedule at least 1 hour in advance. Late arrivals without notice are subject to a $50 fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What mods are required for Stage 1?
A: None. Stage 1 supports stock hardware. Intercooler and intake are recommended for best temps.

Q: What mods are required for Stage 2?
A: A high-flow exhaust is required. Intercooler, intake, and drivetrain inserts are strongly recommended.

Q: What mods are required for Stage 3?
A: Turbo upgrade, high-flow exhaust, TCU tune, intercooler, air intake, HPFP, LPFP, and MPI 980cc injectors. Full build required.

Q: Is Stage 1/2 safe on the stock IS38 turbo?
A: Yes — when maintenance is followed. Both stages are calibrated around safe boost targets with IAT/EGT protections.

Q: What fuel do I need?
A: Stage 1 and 2 (93): Maps 1–3 run on 91/93 octane. Map 4 requires 100 octane.

Q: Do I need a TCU tune for DSG?
A: Not required for Stage 1 or 2 (93 octane), but highly recommended. Required for Stage 3.

Q: How does multi-map switching work?
A: Switch between 5 maps on the fly using cruise control buttons. Each map has its own boost/behavior so your TTS can go from daily to race to valet in seconds.

Q: Do I need a Windows computer?
A: Yes. The flashing software requires Windows. Mac is not supported. 50+ Mbps internet and 8GB+ RAM required.

IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO SURVIVE, THESE MUST BE DONE!

I WANT YOUR CAR TO SURVIVE MULTIPLE YEARS TO COME WITH MY TUNE. I DON'T JUST RECOMMEND THESE FOR FUN. I HAVE TUNED COUNTLESS AUDI 8S CARS AND THIS IS WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED THROUGH THE YEARS. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE PARTS, PLEASE DON'T TUNE YOUR CAR. NOT BEING HARSH, BEING STRAIGHTFORWARD SO YOU DON'T BLAME MY TUNE THAT ARE ON COUNTLESS CARS WITHOUT ISSUES BECAUSE THEY FOLLOW MY MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
