Step-by-Step

  1. 1

    Schedule: Scan the QR code included with your cable to book your session on BDT's scheduling page.

  2. 2

    Download TeamViewer Quick Support: Google "TeamViewer" → click Quick Support → download and install. This gives BDT secure remote access to your laptop — no IT experience needed.

  3. 3

    Connect battery charger: Hook up positive terminal first, negative last. Set to 10–25 amps and leave it connected the entire session.

  4. 4

    Key on, engine off (accessory mode): Press the start button with no foot on the brake. All dash lights on — engine does not start.

  5. 5

    Plug in the cable: Connect the BDT tuning cable to your OBDII port (lower dash, driver's side) and the USB end into your laptop.

  6. 6

    Share your TeamViewer ID & password: BDT logs into your laptop remotely, selects your exact calibration file, and loads it to the car — you watch it happen in real time.

  7. 7

    Key off on command: BDT tells you exactly when. The car resets all modules — temporary fault codes across every module are completely normal and will clear.

  8. 8

    Disconnect & drive: Remove charger (negative first, then positive), start the car, and go.

The whole flash takes about 15–20 minutes. BDT is live on call with you the entire time. You never click a button you're unsure about.

WATCH: HOW REMOTE TUNING WORKS

After the flash: Your car may show fault codes in multiple modules — this is 100% normal. When one module is flashed it tells every other module to reset. They clear on their own after a short drive cycle.

A: Yes — this calibration is built specifically for front-wheel drive A4/A5 models. Torque management is tuned for FWD traction characteristics. If you have a Quattro (AWD) model, contact BDT for the correct listing.

 

Q: Is this safe on a stock car?
A: Yes — Stage 1 is designed for factory hardware with OEM-style safeguards and torque modeling. Stage 2 requires supporting hardware as listed.

 

Q: What fuel do I need?
A: Stage 1 runs 91 or 93 octane. Stage 2 runs 93 octane for best results. We calibrate to your fuel quality and climate.

 

Q: Does Stage 2 require a high-flow exhaust?

Q: Can I upgrade from Stage 1 to Stage 2 later?
A: Yes. No need to purchase the next stage at full price — purchase our retune option to jump to Stage 2 once you add your high-flow exhaust and supporting mods. Contact BDT to discuss upgrading.

 

Q: Will I have traction issues on FWD?
A: Especially at Stage 2, yes — the torque is significant. Good tires are essential. Power delivery is calibrated for control, but wheelspin is physics. Traction control remains OEM-style.
