What's the difference between Plug & Play and Remote Tuning?
Plug & Play ECU — We ship you a pre-tuned ECU (the vehicle's computer). You remove your stock ECU, plug in the tuned one, and drive. No laptop needed. This is how our B7 A4 2.0T tunes are delivered.
Remote OBDII Flash — You receive an OBDII cable that plugs into your car's diagnostic port. Using a Windows laptop, you read your stock file and send it to us. We build your custom tune and send it back. You flash it yourself from your driveway. This is how most of our MQB platform tunes (GTI, S3, A3, Golf R, B9.5) are delivered.

What stage tune should I get?
Stage 1 — Stock hardware, big gains. No modifications required. Best starting point for most customers. Runs on 91 or 93 octane with multi-map switching.
Stage 2 — Requires a high-flow exhaust. More power, more torque, more aggressive calibration. E85 flex fuel available on supported platforms.
Stage 3 — Hybrid or upgraded turbo. Maximum power. Requires supporting hardware (intake, intercooler, high-flow exhaust, fuel system). Built for serious builds.

What do I need to flash my car?
For remote OBDII flashing, you need a Windows laptop (Mac is not supported) and the OBDII cable we provide. That's it. The entire process takes about 15–20 minutes and is done from your driveway. No dealer visit, no shop appointment. Full step-by-step support via text, call, or email throughout the entire process.

How long does it take to receive my tune?
Remote tunes: Once we receive your stock file, your custom calibration is typically built and returned within 24 hours. We reach out within hours of your purchase to get started.
Plug & Play ECUs: These ship via USPS. Please allow standard shipping time. Tracking is provided via email once shipped.

How can I track my order?
Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with tracking information. If you haven't received tracking yet, your order hasn't shipped — please be patient. Note that USPS tracking can sometimes be delayed and may not show movement until the day of delivery. If you have concerns, reach out to us directly at (843) 715-3896.

Can I go back to stock?
Yes. Every remote tune includes the ability to flash back to your original stock file at any time. Your stock calibration is saved during the initial read process. For Plug & Play ECU customers, simply reinstall your original ECU.

What about warranty?
Aftermarket ECU tuning may affect your factory warranty. However, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer must prove that the modification directly caused the failure in order to deny a warranty claim. Many BDT customers daily drive their tuned vehicles for years without issue. We always recommend doing your own research and making an informed decision.

Do I get free updates if I upgrade my hardware?
Yes — lifetime calibration updates. Switch to E85, add a bigger turbo, upgrade your intercooler — send us your updated mod list and we'll revise your tune at no extra cost. Your calibration grows with your build.

What fuel should I run?
All BDT tunes include multi-map switching so you can select the right map for your fuel. Most customers run 91 or 93 octane. E85 flex fuel maps are available on supported platforms with an ethanol content sensor installed. You'll always have a valet/stock mode map available as well.
