How Remote Tuning Works
Flash your Beetle from home — no shop visit needed.
Schedule Your Flash — After purchase, scan the QR code or contact BDT to book your appointment.
Download TeamViewer — Install on your Windows laptop. BDT remotes in to run the flash software.
Hook Up Battery Charger — Positive first, then negative. Stable voltage is critical.
Turn Car to Accessory Mode — Key in ignition or press start without brake. Do not start the engine.
Plug In OBDII Cable — Connect to the OBDII port (driver side, under dash).
BDT Takes Remote Control — We handle everything. You watch the entire process live.
Key Off on Command — When BDT says “turn key off,” do it immediately.
Disconnect & Drive — Unplug OBDII, remove charger (negative first, then positive), start the car, enjoy.
Post-Flash Note: You may see a few fault codes after flashing — this is normal. They clear after a short drive cycle.

Q: What mods are required for Stage 1?
A: None. Stage 1 is fully compatible with OEM hardware — stock turbo, stock intake, stock exhaust all supported.
Q: What do I need for Stage 2 on my Beetle 1.8T?
A: A high-flow exhaust is required. Intake, intercooler, upgraded diverter valve, and drivetrain inserts are strongly recommended.
Q: Is a TCU tune required?
A: Not required for Stage 1 or Stage 2 on this platform, but recommended if you want sharper shifts and better torque management.
Q: Can I flash at home?
A: Yes. Remote OBDII flashing with full guided support is included. A Windows laptop is required.
Q: What fuel does this tune support?
A: 91 or 93 octane required. We tailor maps to your setup and fuel availability. Most customers run 93 octane.
Q: I have an upgraded turbo. Can I run Stage 2?
A: No. Upgraded turbos are not compatible with Stage 2 — you'll need Stage 3. Contact BDT for custom big-turbo tuning.
Q: Is Stage 1 safe on the stock Beetle 1.8T turbo?
A: Yes — when maintenance is followed. Stage 1 is calibrated around safe boost targets (16–18 PSI) with OEM protection logic on factory hardware.
Q: Do I need a Windows computer?
A: Yes. The flashing software requires Windows. Mac is not supported. 50+ Mbps internet and 8GB+ RAM required.
