Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q: Do I need any mods for Stage 1 or Stage 2?
A: No. Both stages are plug and play — no hardware modifications required.

 

Q: Does this fit my MK5 R32?
A: No. This is for the MK4 R32 only (2002–2005 with BFH/BML/BJS engine codes). The MK5 R32 uses a different engine code (BUB) and requires a different calibration.

 

Q: What’s the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?
A: Stage 2 is a more aggressive calibration with bolder timing, cam changes, and fuel optimization. More power, same plug-and-play install.

 

Q: Does the tune affect the 4Motion AWD system?
A: No. The tune works with the Haldex 4Motion system exactly as it does stock. Haldex controller and rear differential are unaffected.

 

Q: Is 2-Step available on DSG?
A: No. 2-Step and No-Lift-Shift are only available on manual transmission ECUs.

 

Q: How does Plug & Play work?
A: BDT ships a pre-tuned ECU with immobilizer deleted. You remove your stock ECU, plug in the BDT unit, and drive. No laptop, no cables, no software needed.

 

Q: What fuel do I need?
A: 91/93 octane for both stages.

 

Q: What’s my engine code?
A: BFH (Europe), BML (Australia), or BJS (North America). All three are the 3.2L 24V VR6 and all three are supported.
