A: None required. Intake, intercooler, upgraded DV, and BDT TCU tune are recommended for best results.

 

Q: What do I need for Stage 2?
A: A high-flow exhaust and front-mount intercooler are required. Aftermarket intake strongly recommended. BDT TCU tune highly recommended for DSG.

 

Q: Why Stage 2+ instead of Stage 2?
A: Stage 2+ adds HPFP fueling headroom, allowing higher boost, safer ethanol use (E30), and more consistent power. If you’ve outgrown Stage 2 and want to push the factory K04 further, Stage 2+ is the right call.

 

Q: Is Stage 2+ safe on the factory K04?
A: Yes — when the required fueling (HPFP) and cooling upgrades (FMIC) are installed and maintenance is followed.

 

Q: What do I need for Stage 3?
A: Full big-turbo build: turbo upgrade (Hybrid K04 / GTX / BT), upgraded HPFP, larger injectors, FMIC, 3” high-flow exhaust, performance intake, upgraded DV, and clutch or TCU tune. Stage 3 is fully custom to your build.

 

Q: Can I run ethanol?
A: Yes. Stage 1 supports E30 blends. Stage 2 and 2+ also support E30 with proper fueling. Stage 3 supports E85 with full fuel system upgrades.

 

Q: Is 2-Step available on DSG?
A: No. 2-Step and No-Lift-Shift are only available on manual transmission ECUs. DSG gets launch optimization via the BDT TCU tune.

 

Q: Does the tune affect the 4Motion AWD system?
A: No. The tune works with the Haldex 4Motion system exactly as it does stock. Haldex controller and rear differential are unaffected.

 

Q: How does Plug & Play work?
A: BDT ships a pre-tuned ECU with immobilizer deleted. You remove your stock ECU, plug in the BDT unit, and drive. No laptop, no cables, no software needed.
