How Remote Tuning Works

Flash your SQ7 / SQ8 from home — no shop visit needed.

1

Schedule Your Flash — After purchase, scan the QR code or contact BDT to book your appointment.

2

Download TeamViewer — Install on your Windows laptop. BDT remotes in to run the flash software.

3

Hook Up Battery Charger — Positive first, then negative. Stable voltage is critical.

4

Turn Car to Accessory Mode — Key in ignition or press start without brake. Do not start the engine.

5

Plug In OBDII Cable — Connect to the OBDII port (driver side, under dash).

6

BDT Takes Remote Control — We handle everything. You watch the entire process live.

7

Key Off on Command — When BDT says “turn key off,” do it immediately.

8

Disconnect & Drive — Unplug OBDII, remove charger (negative first, then positive), start the car, enjoy.

Post-Flash Note: You may see a few fault codes after flashing — this is normal. They clear after a short drive cycle.

HOW REMOTE TUNING WORKS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What mods are required for Stage 1?
A: None. Stage 1 supports stock hardware. A TCU tune, intake, and intercoolers are highly recommended for best results.

Q: What mods are required for Stage 2?
A: A high-flow exhaust is required. TCU tune, intake, intercoolers, turbo inlet pipes, and drivetrain inserts are strongly recommended.

Q: Is Stage 1 safe on the stock 4.0T V8?
A: Yes — when maintenance is followed. Stage 1 is calibrated around safe boost targets with OEM protection logic on factory hardware.

Q: What fuel do I need?
A: 91 or 93 octane required. Running lower octane will reduce power and trigger knock protection.

Q: Do I need a TCU tune?
A: Not required, but highly recommended. The ZF 8HP95 responds extremely well to a TCU tune — faster, firmer shifts, raised torque limits, and full access to the neutral/park rev limiter. BDT offers an ECU + TCU bundle at a discounted price so your tune gets the full supporting calibration it deserves. Contact BDT for current bundle pricing.

Q: How do crackle pops work?
A: Crackle pops activate in Dynamic drive mode. Subtle on the factory exhaust, absolutely unhinged with a high-flow exhaust installed.

Q: Will this affect the mild hybrid system?
A: No. Our calibration keeps the 48V mild hybrid system fully functional. Start/stop is defaulted off by the tune.

Q: Do I need a Windows computer?
A: Yes. The flashing software requires Windows. Mac is not supported. 50+ Mbps internet and 8GB+ RAM required.

We want your SQ7/SQ8 to live a long, happy tuned life. These intervals come from years of tuning the 4.0T V8 platform. If these aren’t kept up, failures happen — and it won’t be the tune.

After getting the Stage 1 tune, my SQ7 went from feeling strong to feeling exactly how it should’ve come from the factory. The improvement is immediately noticeable. Throttle response is quicker, the power delivery is smooth and consistent, and it pulls hard without feeling forced. The shifts are clean, predictable, and way better than stock. Everything just works together in a way that makes the SQ7 feel more enjoyable to drive, whether you’re cruising or getting a little spirited with it. Driving characteristics overall are much improved. It feels faster, lighter on its feet, and more responsive. It’s the type of upgrade that makes you look forward to driving the car again. The process itself was flawless. Communication was on point, everything was explained clearly, and the transaction was smooth from start to finish. In short: Great tune, great experience, and a noticeable upgrade in all the right ways.
