91/93 OCTANE

Why Choose BDT?

  • VW/MQB Tuning Expertise: Purpose-built for EA888 Gen 3 IS20 with OEM-level tools and real-world refinement.
  • Authenticity Over Hype: Every file written in-house — no resellers, no copy/paste calibrations.
  • Remote Flashing: Flash your GLI via OBDII at home. No ECU shipping. No shop scheduling.
  • Dyno-Tested & Street-Proven: Backed by data and validated under real load.

Stage 1 Highlights

  • Up to 268 WHP / 307 WTQ (308 HP / 353 TQ crank est.) on 93 octane
  • Speed Limiter Removed
  • Torque Limiters Raised
  • IAT + EGT Safety Logic
  • Fueling Optimized by load & throttle position
  • Overrun / Crackle Pops
  • Refined Boost Control — linear onset, stable delivery
  • Reduced Turbo Lag — faster spool
  • LPFP / HPFP Targets Optimized
  • VVT Optimization
  • OBDII Port Flashing

Crackle Pops (Overrun)

Optional overrun/crackle in Dynamic/Sport mode. Subtle on stock exhaust; more pronounced with freer-flowing setups. Tuned with RPM windows and exhaust-temp safeties.

Boost Control & Drivability

From the factory, boost delivery can feel uneven on long pulls. BDT refines the curve for linear onset, faster response, and smooth, repeatable power without surge.

Power Gains

Expected Stage 1 gains on 93 octane: up to 268 WHP / 307 WTQ (308 HP / 353 TQ crank est.)

BDT Stage 2 ECU Tune

2015–2018 VW Jetta GLI 2.0T • EA888 Gen 3 • IS20

Stage 2 takes everything Stage 1 delivers and pushes it further with high-flow exhaust optimization. The IS20 breathes harder, spools faster, and holds boost deeper into the pull — with recalibrated fueling and torque management for the added airflow.

High-Flow Exhaust Req. Crackle Pops OEM Safety Logic
VW Jetta GLI 2.0T Stage 2 BDT
GLI 2.0T STAGE 2
Harder midrange. IS20 finally exhales.

Stage 2 Requirement: A high-flow exhaust is required. TCU/DSG tune highly recommended.

Stage 2 Highlights

  • Up to 315 WHP / 365 WTQ (362 HP / 420 TQ crank est.) on 93 octane
  • Speed Limiter Removed
  • Neutral/Park Rev Limiter Raised
  • Torque Limiters Raised
  • Fueling Optimized by load & throttle position
  • Overrun / Crackle Pops — Low / Medium / Intense
  • Refined Boost Control — linear onset, stable delivery
  • Reduced Turbo Lag — faster spool
  • LPFP / HPFP Targets Optimized
  • OBDII Port Flashing

Crackle Pops — Stage 2

Stage 2 with a high-flow exhaust makes overrun even more aggressive. That clean burble and snap on lift-off — louder, sharper, and more pronounced with a freer-flowing exhaust.

Boost Control

With reduced exhaust backpressure, the IS20 spools faster and holds boost better through the pull. We reshape the entire boost curve for consistent, smooth power delivery from spool to redline.

⚠️ SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: Windows PC or laptop required for remote flashing. 50+ Mbps internet8GB+ RAM • TeamViewer installed. Mac is not supported at this time.

How Remote Tuning Works

Flash your GLI from home — no shop visit needed.

1

Schedule Your Flash — After purchase, scan the QR code or contact BDT to book your appointment.

2

Download TeamViewer — Install on your Windows laptop. BDT remotes in to run the flash software.

3

Hook Up Battery Charger — Positive first, then negative. Stable voltage is critical.

4

Turn Car to Accessory Mode — Key in ignition or press start without brake. Do not start the engine.

5

Plug In OBDII Cable — Connect to the OBDII port (driver side, under dash).

6

BDT Takes Remote Control — We handle everything. You watch the entire process live.

7

Key Off on Command — When BDT says “turn key off,” do it immediately.

8

Disconnect & Drive — Unplug OBDII, remove charger (negative first, then positive), start the car, enjoy.

Post-Flash Note: You may see a few fault codes after flashing — this is normal. They clear after a short drive cycle.

HOW REMOTE TUNING WORKS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need for Stage 1 on my GLI?
A: Nothing required beyond a healthy stock car. Intake, intercooler, and fresh plugs are strongly recommended for best results.

Q: Is a high-flow exhaust compatible with Stage 1?
A: No. If you have a high-flow exhaust installed, you need Stage 2.

Q: What do I need for Stage 2?
A: A high-flow exhaust is required. TCU/DSG tune, intake, and intercooler are highly recommended.

Q: Can I flash at home?
A: Yes. Remote OBDII flashing with full support is included. A Windows laptop is required.

Q: What fuel does it support?
A: We build maps for your fuel availability. 91/93 octane are most common.

Q: Do you offer custom adjustments?
A: Yes. We can adjust crackle levels, boost behavior, and fuel targets while keeping safeties intact.

Q: Do I need a Windows computer?
A: Yes. The flashing software requires Windows. Mac is not supported. 50+ Mbps internet and 8GB+ RAM required.

Maintenance (Read This)

IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO SURVIVE, THESE MUST BE DONE!

I WANT YOUR CAR TO SURVIVE MULTIPLE YEARS TO COME WITH MY TUNE. I DON’T RECOMMEND THESE FOR FUN. I HAVE TUNED COUNTLESS EA888 CARS AND THIS IS WHAT I’VE SEEN THROUGH THE YEARS. IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD THE PARTS, PLEASE DON’T TUNE YOUR CAR.

    Ecu/TCU tune stage 2

Posted by Adam strausbaugh on Feb 27th 2026

Trent was awesome with his communication with me and I told him I did some research on boost Dynamcis for a year not to be a asshole but to just see all the work he can do at his dyno and remote tuning. I saw cars with flames pops power etc. told him I want my car to do that exactly and guys he went way above and beyond and hooked me up with the best and even some new ecu maps for my GLi that he hasn’t even used on anyone car yet. I was like a guinea pig and no complaints period. The best custom tune engineer out there and he will help you with whatever you want. Thanks again Trent !!!
